Is it to force those who want to create PDF files to use a paid-for solution, or for some other reason? See my other reply in another thread. Have you tried updating to SP2? I have a similar problem. If I try to add a new printer using the "Add Printer" wizard, I get a dialog with the message: "Printer driver was not installed. Operation could not be completed. It doesn't matter what options I choose in the wizard - the problem happens regardless of what printer or port I select.
If I could just convince a couple of customers to switch OS's, I'd install Linux on all my boxes, burn all my Windows disks, and never look back. Very frustrating. Monday, January 30, PM. I work as tech support for my office and have had this same problem with two laptops in my office. I have several network printers and copiers I use in the office. They just disappeared and upon finding that I couldn't add any printers because the print spooler was stopped, I began searching for answers. I cant get the print spooler to run properly. The service fails to start at boot time.
Manually starting it doesn't work because when I run Add Printer it just crashes. Any suggestions? Monday, February 13, PM. I am running into the same problem with my Dell Printer, I have found that everytime Windows 7 does an update my printer disapear, normaly after I have been on the internet and pulled up a map, or tried to print a map. Similar problem and although it some files were still being help by a program I had stopped the spooler it deleted heaps of others and the printer is working again. Thursday, June 28, AM.
